BUT THANKFULLY, no change to the program is required. The litmus test was how I went with that first triple… even with the weeks off training and the weight loss (I shed seven kilograms during my illness) it felt good enough. The next two triples were also good enough. So that’s definitely a positive. Another positive is that this is a legit new personal record.

The date of the CAPO state championships was moved back to mid-June, and with the interruption to my training being of about the same length of time, that meant (providing I was able to jump back in as I have done) the original program I worked up with assistance from my coach is still usable.

After the money sets I was beaten up bad, so I scrapped the assistance work and went home to enjoy my spa’s hydrotherapy setting and an anti-inflammatory or two.
