Press Wednesday & Further Setbacks

CAN YOU believe this shit? Gah… I hope after this brief course of antibiotics I’ll be all fixed. But goddamn, the run of injury and ill-health I have had. I have spent now five nights throwing up in the last seven weeks I think it is.

Tonight I started feeling a bit off during training. I was underpowered on my money sets on bench (no surprises there) so quit it at 3 by 3. And here’s where I began to feel a little nauseated. I moved on to my accessories and super-set them to save time… which momentarily made me feel like I was going to hurl, but didn’t.

I finished up, drove home, got in, grabbed the bucket by my bedside, and projected into it everything I had eaten that day. Filled it about a third of the way… I remarked to myself how I’d not seen that much vomit produced in one go before. After this I felt pretty much fine. Later that night I had soup for dinner, just to be sure it wouldn’t aggravate my gut further. But I threw that up maybe an hour later, and spent most of the night with abdominal pains and nausea, much like I’d had a few weeks ago.

During my leave I provided samples for tests, and I’ve not had an opportunity to get those results until today. Turns out I have campylobacter; a bacterial infection of the gut. I am now on a three day course of meds which are supposed to kill the infection, with and the expectation that – along with digestive enzymes – the issue won’t resurface. Interestingly, my GP had to fill out an official health department notice that my tests had come back positive for this infection.

More time lost. I’m also back down to around 130 kilos bodyweight. Weak.
